Friday Morning Fun!

I was forced to get a new cell phone after my old, rather expensive one (that I never liked) finally died on me. I swore to never buy another Smartphone because I never used even half the bells and whistles it included. After browsing the AT&T store for a while, I realized my "basic" was not really basic. Once I figured out all the features I needed, I was still looking at paying about $200 (AFTER the contract renewal, rebates, etc.). So Danny said, "Just get the iPhone."

"Um, no" was my initial response. (That's usually how it goes in these situations since I'm super-frugal and Danny's...not.) I remembered how ridiculously expensive the iPhone was when it first hit the market. But when I realized that the price had dropped considerably, I was like, "Um, YES!" And I got two more surprises when it was time to pay. 1) I forgot that my AT&T account is discounted because of my job. So we didn't even pay retail for the phone or the accessories. 2) Then my sweet husband paid for the phone for me! :-)

So Morgan and I played around with the camera this morning...Happy Friday!

"Talk to Me, Baby."

I'm at school and I REALLY should be planning right now, but I want to quickly update! Morgan is starting to "talk." Before, she would spontaneously make little sounds, but now she's doing it more and more. And Danny "talks" to her -- they have these little conversations. He can mimick the sounds she makes, and she loves that.

And she's starting to drool, too! I know teething isn't here, yet, but she's at the point where the river is starting to flow! Bibs needed FOR REAL, now. Her daddy has the urge to wipe it every time it happens. I'm wondering how long it will take for him to realize it's a never-ending flow...

Anyway, I need to get back to planning. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their week! It's raining here -- I love it!

First Squeal (and General Update)!

Soooo much has happened in the last month or so! Had a friend over the weekend ask about blogs, which made me realize that I need to update!

I have to start off with something wonderful that happened just this morning -- Morgan squealed/laughed for the first time! I was so amazed! She's been smiling for weeks, and had even gotten to the point where all we had to do was smile at her (no silly faces or baby talk needed) to make her smile. But the laugh/squeal thing just totally shocked me and stole my heart. I guess what they say is true -- that you fall in love over and over when you have a child.

And we've appreciated her smiles even more considering she's been sick for a few weeks. At the end of her first week of daycare, she came home with a light cough. Then that cough escalated to downright AWFUL! And heartbreaking. Turns out she caught a nasty virus that's all too common in babies. Being first-time parents, we took her to the pediatrician so many times. Fortunately Morgan is a champ with fighting off this virus. No need for hospitalization or anything. Her oxygen and lungs have been perfect the whole time.

I kept her at home several days during her little illness. She could've gone to daycare (apparently if there's no fever, they can attend-- and Morgan never really had one), but I felt she needed to be home. So I stayed with her a couple of days. Danny stayed at home with her a couple of days. And her Auntie Ashleigh stayed with her a couple of days. The funny thing about it is I don't think Morgan was miserable once. She had no idea she was sick! We're still getting over the cough (apparently it can take up to six weeks to go away), but we're happy knowing that she's really okay.

I posted about the "working mom" life being easier than I thought. Well, I spoke too soon. :-) It's pretty hectic, actually. I am exhausted, and there are never enough hours in the day. But I wouldn't trade it for ANYTHING. I just have to get into some routines that will make everything easier. Still trying to establish those! :-)

My mother-in-law came last weekend and let us sleep in. She kept Morgan at night and most of the day. So we were able to to get a full night's sleep and even run a few errands. Funny thing is, I missed Morgan! I tipped-toed in the middle of the night to check on her and called her when we were gone. Can't say I wasn't grateful for the break, though!

Oh, how could I forget! We traveled to Destin over the weekend, and I it was soo NOT stressful! I feel like a pro with this traveling-with-baby thing. The first couple of times I was a little overwhelmed, but this past weekend was gravy. Everything went smoothly -- the only thing I forgot is the nipple brush! I'm getting pretty good at this!

In general, everything has been going well. The sick baby thing scared us for a little bit, but Morgan apparently did very well with it. She's growing, smiling (now laughing), and bringing sooo much joy to our lives. I'll end this post with a shot of Morgan enjoying her bouncy seat. She loves that thing! Hope all is well with everyone!
