Accomplishment for Mama and Six-Month Pics

I'm gonna be all over the place in this post, so bear with me...

Okay, so this past week was a big accomplishment for ME. :) You see, DK worked a camp and was away from home a couple of nights. Usually that's when my mother-in-law stays with me because I hate staying at home alone at night -- especially since Morgan is here. Why? 'Cause I'm a scared-y cat. And I've always been that way. I've only lived alone once in my life (for two semesters when I first started grad school) and I can't say I loved it...

Well, anyway, we stayed at home from Monday to Wednesday alone. That first night I was a little afraid (that's the night I stayed up making squash - LOL). But the second night wasn't bad at all.

Anyway, what did Morgan and I do while her daddy was away? Well, we read a lot of stories, sang some songs, played, made food, and shopped for Father's Day. And in between those, Morgan napped and Mama cleaned.

And how did she do with the squash? Well, she hated it at first. I think she's slowly starting to like it, though. Funny story (well, not really): When I was baking the squash that night, I didn't like the smell. It wasn't a bad smell, obviously, but I guess I don't like the smell of butternut squash in the oven. Well, I got a little nauseated. So of course I start thinking: "Nauseated? Why the heck am I NAUSEATED? I was never sick with Morgan, so I couldn't be...!"

Anyway, of course I am absolutely NOT _______. The thought of having two under two has me even afraid to type the word!

Anyway, Morgan and I also got a chance to see Martha this week since she was in town for work. Martha and her husband are the couple we were visiting in Florida when we were pregnant with Morgan and didn't know it. Their baby KJ was born on our wedding anniversary, too. So that makes them extra dear friends. :) Here's Morgan with Martha.

So today, I'm EXHAUSTED. I'm sure you can't tell from this extremely wordy post. But I am. We took Morgan for her six-month pics today (here). Of course they were very busy because of the upcoming Father's Day weekend. Our appointment was at 1:30; we walked out of the building at 4:10. We waited probably a little over an hour. Morgan wanted to nap, so that ended up working out well. When it was our turn, though, she was still sleepy, so she never really warmed up to the photographer. We got a few half-smiles, but that's it. Hey, we'll take what we can get. At least she wasn't crying. Wait...this is dejavu.

Anyway, this is the second time we've been to that studio, and I always walk out of that place feeling rushed. And quite honestly, the pictures are just okay. And I am not one to talk negatively about a company unless they do me wrong -- and obviously they haven't (so I feel sort of bad even posting this)... But if anyone can suggest a photography studio in the Birmingham area that has a more intimate environment, please let me know...if we spend our money, we may as well be completely satisfied, you know?

Anyway, told you I'd be all over the place in this post...Here are a few of the shots. Have a great Friday, everyone!

This was the first pose. The first pic says is an extremely accurate display of her mood at the time.

We got the CD w/the package, and it has ALL the shots on it -- including bloopers. Here's a pose we didn't buy because there were no good pictures of it. My extremely curious daughter wanted to play with the bear (which we had to move behind her). And then when we moved the bear, the block was of a sudden the most interesting thing in the world. Silly kid! So no one will be getting pics with this background! LOL!

  1. Ok so your not ______? Just wanted to clarify! It cracks me up delaney has the first bubble suit that you took Morgans pics in the yellow one with the sunflowers and i think the one she is in in the first pic the same suit with the birght flowers and she has the brown one she is wearing in these pics in the next size.. I love Carters and all these sweet bubbles! Well Morgan's pics are adorable and I LOVE that sweet dress she has on!

  2. Those pictures are so adorable!!! I thought they were going to be horrible the way you were prefacing it! I won't lie....about 27 years ago, my parents got 6 month pictures of me with that SAME white wicker chair and background. It must be standard for 6 mo photos :)

  3. Gerri...girl, I am so glad to hear that I am not the only wimp when it comes to staying overnight by myself. the last time my hubby was gone...I stayed up all night and did every single bit of laundry in the house. no sleep here!!!!!
