New Food Post

I figured since Morgan's starting fruits and veggies now, I would begin New Food posts to share her little reactions...

Because of Morgan's eczema issues, we were advised by the doctor to wait to start veggies or fruits (so it's been cereal and oatmeal for a month). At her six-month appointment Monday, we were given the okay. First veggie: GREEN BEANS. (I've always wanted carrots to be her first food, but my favorite source had some information that makes me want to wait until seven months for carrots...I read too much!)

Well, remember when I bought a food processor? Here's why:

Yep, homemade baby food. It's actually a bit of a trend in the mommy world right now to make your baby's food, but it's too easy and cheap NOT to. And for those of you that don't know me well, I am not the most domestic chick. So you know it has to be super-easy. And I like saving money (it's amazing how much you save). More importantly, though, it can be healthier for your child -- particularly beginning in food stages 2 and 3.

Now, am I one of those women that will proclaim that my child "will never have a jar of Gerber or Beechnut!"? No. As much as we're on the go, I'm not sure I can even say that with a straight face. (And if you read about the most recent incident where I left my child's food at home -- two hours away -- then you definitely would understand my need to stay away from such extreme statements.) But I hope with proper planning, even when we're on the go, I can provide Morgan with the healthiest option. That certainly includes when she goes back to daycare. Is being a mom making me a domestic chick? Maybe a little. But I'm diggin' it.

Hare are some pics from Morgan's first experience with green beans.

I think she misses her cereal and oatmeal.

Apparently it sometimes takes a few times for them to decide if they like new food. So we'll see!

Prepared for the next few days, thanks to Baby Cubes and my freezer.

Happy Hump Day!
