Christmas Photos...Sorta!

Yesterday we visited Word Alive church in Oxford with my mom.  Morgan sat in the service with us instead of going to the nursery.  I just knew one of us would have to walk out with her at some point (most toddlers aren't very content sitting through service).  She did get a little fidgety, but not enough for us to have to walk out with her. I'm sort of sad Word Alive isn't closer to where we live because we really liked it.

Also, yesterday my mom's goddaughter's little girl turned two, so we went to the birthday party.  We got there pretty early and helped with the decorations and all.  We then had a little downtime before the party started.  So guess what I decided to do since it was a beautiful day?  Take pictures, of course!

Some of the shots could have been Christmas card worthy!  If only it wasn't like FIVE DAYS before Christmas!  I can't believe I let the month slip away.  I love getting Christmas cards with their beautiful Bible versus, wishes for  a great Christmas and New Year, and lovely family photos.  And it is something I've always looked forward to doing after I had my own family (I usually just send traditional, non-photo Christmas cards).  But I didn't really plan well and time just got me this year. :-(  So maybe I'll develop one of these pics and include it with my usual traditional card.  Or maybe I'll just wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the blog.  Tacky, you say?

At least we eventually did get together as a family and take pictures in our "Christmas" colors.  So we still have something for our memory book, which I'm so excited about getting printed in January!  This blog has been a tremendous help for me, a mama that didn't print ANY of her child's pictures until she turned six months -- and haven't printed any since then (darn you, Internet!).  Even in early summer, I bought all these scrapbooking-like supplies ready to document her first year.  They're now all packed in a plastic drawer in our office.  Unopened.  And I even bought special scissors!

Luckily there are companies out there that print your blog in book form -- and they turn out so nice!  I've decided I'd print ours every calendar year -- from January 1 - December 31 (though this first book will include two months from the previous year).  But I look forward to building a library of memories for my children and grandchildren and generations beyond!  And I'm so glad that I've haven't focused solely on Morgan for this blog, but have made it a bit of a FAMILY blog.  Can you tell I'm excited?  You don't know the half of it!

So, anyway, I've gone all around the world in this post.  I really just wanted to post these pics.  This is what happens when you try to get a good Christmas photo with a one-year-old:

Can you tell she's having a ball?

She likes to put her face in my hair.

"Daddy, isn't this the perfect time to play?"

Me:  "Is she smiling?  Is she smiling?  Wait, nooo, she's pointing!" LOL!

"Are these crazy people my parents?"

Me: "We'll count as SOON as we're done with the picture, okay baby?" :)

"If I can't play, then I won't smile."

Haha!  Aren't these pics not the epitome of what parents go through while trying to get pics of their tots?

With my mom.  Of course she smiles when we're on the other side entertaining!

And claps.

And here are some random shots:

Since we were there early, she got her little tiara/party favor before the party started. Let's just say it didn't make it to the party.  She refused to wear it and instead wanted to eat it.  She was MAD when we had to take it from her.

She points at everything these days.

Giving MeMaw a hug.

With MeMaw and the Birthday Girl!

And these are a few pics that I thought were adorable, so I did a little editing.  Click them to see the full versions.  None of these pics are staged, which makes them even more special.

Hope everyone's having a great week! I absolutely love my job and my students, but I am SO thrilled to be off! :)
