Did it Work?

Yesterday I tried convincing you (okay - myself) that the reason Morgan cried when I dropped her off yesterday was because she didn't get her regular breakfast.  Wow, that sounds even sillier today...

Well, you and I both know that was a boatload of denial.  Of course she cried this morning when I dropped her off.  I did give her a snack this morning before school, and I'll keep doing that, but that wasn't it.   I tried letting her walk into the classroom herself (instead of me holding her).  She was happy about that, but was still skeptical when it came to staying.

I'm grateful that I subscribe to the baby development Web sites that email you every week to let you know what your child may or may not not be doing new.  She's supposedly going through a stage where she's extremely independent one minute, and extremely clingy the next.  I'm not used to her crying when I leave her anywhere.  Hopefully we get over this stage fairly quickly.  My heart can't take it! :-(

The only thing that makes me feel better about it all is that I know she's fine once I'm gone.  If she was unhappy there, she would cry long after I've gone.  It's just a matter of her not wanting me to leave at the time.  And obviously it's a new place for her, so it will take some adjusting.  I talked with a co-worker of mine this morning, and her little one still cries half the time when she leaves him, and she said the next day he couldn't care less if she leaves.  So we'll see how it goes.  It's not easy, though. :-(

On a lighter note, here are some pics of Morgan with her puppy doll, Violet.

If you'll remember, Morgan hasn't really hit that baby doll-loving stage.  She usually give them one kiss, then throws them down (and sometimes steps right on them as she's walking away, LOL!).   Or she'll poke at their eyes and then throw them down.  But lately she's been showing a little more interest in Violet, who she's had for months.  I personally LOVE Violet.  So much that I buy Violet for any child (under three) that has a birthday.  If you don't have Violet or have never seen her, she is a LeapFrog toy (whose name is "Scout" if it's a boy, and his color is green, not purple) that you personalize to say your child's name.  Violet spells your child's name in a cute little song, uses your child's name when she's talking to her, and repeats your child's favorite food, color, and animal.  There are tons of songs to choose from, so you're likely to find your child's favorite somewhere in there.  And Violet is lightweight and adorable -- the perefect toy!  Anyway, Morgan used to give Violet very little attention, but now Violet is becoming one of her favorite toys.  I think it's adorable!

Anyway, that's three days in a row I've posted!  No wonder it's raining!  Maybe I should've considered using my lunch period a long time ago.  Quite honestly, I've always tried to limit personal stuff when I'm at work. But hey, my lunch period is mine.  I can eat and "handle business," can't I? :-)

I hope everyone's having a great week.  It's raining cats and dogs here (and is supposed to for the next couple of days), so we'll try to keep dry.  Only two more days before Spring Break!  Woohoo!
