Playing Outside and 15-Month Appointment

Yesterday was a BEAUTIFUL day -- 70-degree weather, to be exact!  So I was thrilled to get home and let Morgan play outside in the yard.  And while that sounds like a whole lot of nothing to be thrilled about, remember that Morgan started walking during the cold months.  So this spring will really be the first time she'll play in her own yard as an active toddler.  I'm so excited because I know she'll be excited. She loves playing outside!

So of course I took the camera out.  When we first started playing, she wanted to go up and down the little step leading to our front door.  And it's not even a step really -- more like half a step -- but she thought it was fascinating and wanted to practice going up and down.  She already knew how to go up, but hasn't quite mastered the going down part.  She thinks she can just walk like normal on her way down.  So I didn't get pictures of that because I pretty much spent that time preventing her from bursting her knee on the concrete!  But we kept doing it over and over because she wanted to. :-)

And leave it to Morgan to find a little hill in the yard.  Our neighbors' yard is a little lower than ours, so that made for an awesome play spot for her.

Now this incline is a little more dramatic than the one she was playing on in Ashleigh's yard this past weekend, so....

I wasn't surprised when this happened...

Ooops!

Of course she wasn't hurt.

She got back up.

And did it again and again.  Little daredevil.

Then Uncle Tommie stopped by.

And since the sun was going down and it was time for her dinner, we had to take her inside.  And since we knew she'd literally throw a fit, we let Tommie do the job! Ha!

And then this morning was her 15-month appointment.  All is well!  She's in the 50th percentile for weight, 75th percentine for height, and 93rd percentine for head circumference.  As far as new things she's doing, there are a few that I just think are adorable.  She mimics all kinds of stuff I do.  She likes to get a washcloth and "wipe" everything.  She likes to get her nose syringe and do the nose part (though she doesn't quite have the coordination to really get it in her nose), and then squirt the "contents" in the tissue.  The biggest thing I've noticed this month are her "thank yous."  She's been saying "thank you" for a few months now, but it was sporadic and mostly a result of us telling her to repeat after us.  Now she says it a lot when you hand her something -- all by herself.

Now I try not to gloat over every little thing she does (well, not in public or on the blog - ha!), but I can't deny the fact that I am THRILLED that she uses thank you!  As a teacher, I know how it feels to interact with and teach a kid with manners, and it just makes the world a better place.  That was dramatic, I know, but there are no words to explain my love of seeing children with manners.

Anyhoo, remember when I told you that we weren't doing anything for Spring Break?  And remember I said that that could change very quickly?  Well, it did - we're heading to the beach in a few days!  So this weekend I'm going to get our stuff ready for that, and then I'm going to one of my friends' mom's surprise birthday party (I haven't seen them in forever, so I'm excited about that).  I also would like to catch a movie  with my huzzzband, so I'm hoping we'll get a chance to.  So that would make for a very busy weekend, followed by some very relaxing days, thankfully.  Looking forward to it!

Have a good weekend, everybody!
