Sunday Afternoon with Morgan Monster

"Morgan Monster" is a nickname Morgan has probably had since birth. No, make that before birth.  Danny and I referred to her as a little monster before she even got here.  Lovable, I know.  Monster, for short (yes, there's a nickname for the nickname), was away from home all weekend.  She stayed with her Auntie Ash Friday night, and her Honey and PaPa Saturday night.  I missed her so much, but it gave me a chance to do a couple of projects around the house.  I cleaned out and reorganized my pantry and reorganized some of my kitchen cabinets.  Danny and I usually do date night when Morgan's away from home, but this time I had a date with myself.  He was doing football work in the other room while I snacked on pasta (I'm calling it a snack because it was too late at night to call it dinner) and watched a chick flick.  I haven't done that in so long and it felt SO GOOD!

Come Sunday morning, though, I was ready to get the Monster back.  We met my in-laws in Trussville and ate lunch and then came home.  I declared it a relaxing, do-nothing Sunday at home.  Morgan has either a cold or allergies, so she's all snotty and stuff.  And then her molars are coming in, so she's all drooly and stuff, too.  She's taking it all like a champ and is her usual silly self, but I still felt she needed a good, restful day at home.  So I bathed her in that baby vapor bath stuff, put her in PJs early, and let it be a fun day in the house.

I decided that I'd follow her around for an hour or so with the camera.  So funny.

She loves playing with the buckles on anything -- high chair, car seat, anything.

This is her old bouncy seat, which makes for a good toy because of the buckles.

One reason I cleaned out my cabinets this weekend is because I wanted one just for her.  I initially thought she'd just pile it with a whole bunch of her little toys, but quickly realized that she thought the whole cabinet was a toy.  How could I not know she'd do this? :)  Both of my nieces climbed in and out of cabinets at my mom's house when they were this age (one even climbed in the dishwasher!), so I should've known she'd do this.  So funny! (And don't worry -- those aren't nails sticking out inside.  Those are the things the shelf was sitting on.  I took the shelf out.  I'll probably go ahead and take those little things out, too.)

I closed the door and asked, "Where's Morgan?"  And this is what I got! :)

Again and again, of course.

And then when I decided to take a break from "Where's Morgan," she decided she'd close herself in.  And...well, she didn't quite figure it out at first. LOL
I was dying laughing around this time because she just wasn't getting it.  I kept saying, "Morgan, I can still see your feet!"

Still trying, LOL. She eventually figured it out.  But boy, it sure was fun watching.

Playing with her bunny.  She roughs him up really bad.  Tough love, I guess.

And dancing to Violet's singing.

Wearing Daddy's out-in-the-sun hat.

We had a very fun Sunday!  I hope you all have a nice, safe, and productive week!

Just a Few Pics

Sometimes I'll just take out the camera and take pictures for no reason.  We had a little time before we left this morning, so I took a few.

Can you guess what song we're singing?

Yep, Morgan's clapping her hands, stomping her feet, and saying "hooray" to If You're Happy and You Know It, her favorite song right now.  And her "hooray" is hilarious because it's more like "pooo-ray," and she often claps, stomps, and says hooray a beat too early.  It's just adorable.

She has no problem getting into my phone, opening apps, rearranging them, and erasing them!  And of course occasionally CALLING people.

She likes taking her shoes off and trying to put them on again.

She also likes to put on mine and her daddy's shoes, too.  So funny.  I always say "noooooo!" when she gets her daddy's shoes!

Quick cute story:  This morning when I put her sandals on, I noticed that as soon as I put her down she was sort of whining and reaching for me to pick her back up.  When I picked her up, she said, "shoe," and at first I was like, "Yeah, shoe" thinking she wanted me to take them off so she could put them back on.  But when I looked a little closer, her pinky toe was sticking out of one of the openings awkwardly (it probably hurt a little, too). I realized she was telling me "shoe" as in FIX MY SHOE.  I almost DIED I thought it was so cute!  Of course I fixed my child's toe, too. LOL

We played in the driveway for a few minutes before we left this morning.

Not sure what she's staring at. Probably the cat that hangs around on our street.  Her stare is TOO FUNNY.  She always has these wide eyes and a wide open mouth.  And she always furrows her brows.  I think she gets that from my dad.

Have a good day, everyone!

One more thing!  I'm excited to report that I've reached my fundraising goal for Relay for Life, all with the help and generosity of family and friends.  THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH.  Your gift will

A-Day and Park Day

It's been a great week and weekend.  We took over 50 kids to a state conference (that included an overnight stay).  About 15 kids from Hoover are going to nationals!  I am SO extremely proud!

Saturday we tailgated for A-Day.  This is our first time tailgating with a toddler -- Morgan wasn't walking yet during the last football season.  Tailgating will NEVER be the same! She was everywhere and mama was tired after the first 30 minutes! LOL!

She's hanging out with her PaPa here (I think she was staring at a dog).

Tommie's baby girl, Kedra, who played with Morgan a lot (which helped me out a lot)!

Casey trying to snap pics of the crazy guys...

...as they played this game (can't think of the name of it).

Ms. Annette, Danny's aunt.

Morgan with her PaPa and Honey.

Hanging out with Kedra.

We went to the park today.

She played on the playground for a little while...

...before she found one of these.

I wonder how long this crazy little girl will be obsessed with hills.

We had fun at the park today!

Then I wrapped up the week with another organization I co-sponsor at school.  These ladies (the other two sponsors) have been like my big sisters.  They've taught me so much -- love them!

I went ahead and updated the blog on a Sunday night instead of waiting on my lunch period at school tomorrow.  My regular planning periods won't be enough this week to do everything I need to do.  I will be working through lunch this week, for sure.  Mid-nine-week grades are due, and I have over 300 spreadsheets to grade.  Fun!

Have a great week, everyone!

Random Pic Post

I had some random pics in my camera from the past few days that I wanted to post.

Believe it or not, Morgan has taken baths in her baby tub for 16 months.  Though it technically goes up to toddlerhood, it was time to move to the big girl tub.  This was from last week, her first time in the big tub.  She's loving it.  And see that little rinse pail behind her?  Well, she drinks bathwater from it very well.  Makes me think she ready for the big girl cup.

Pics of the girls when we met my mom to get Morgan.  Mama told me not to take too many because their hair hadn't been combed yet, LOL.

They saw a man selling fresh produce, and had to go see what he had.

Checking out the apples.

Morgan is obsessed with her red chair.

We have to take it from her sometimes because she wants to stand.

And she's also in love with this bunny that was in her Easter basket.  Sometimes she'll come straight in and give him a hug.

And though she loves on him most of the time...

...she often drags him through the house by his feet.  His poor ears probably have carpet burn.

Check out the PJs.  Merry Christmas!

We love these PJs in my house.  So when I saw them on clearance at Osh Kosh, I had to get 'em.  They retail at $24, but since they are sort of outta season :), they were marked down to $3.  Merry Christmas to me!

The Itsy Bitsy Spider went up the water spout...

Down came the rain and washed the spider out...She loves doing this.

She looks so big on this picture.  She's growing so fast.

Eating a snack before school this morning.  Love this little bib.

Hope everybody's having a great week!  Busy one for me -- department budgets due for next year, gotta decide what I'm going to spend the rest of my teacher money on for this year, we're taking students to the FBLA conference later this week (overnight stay), plan for a sub, A-Day Saturday, and then a lunch for an organization I co-sponsor at school on Sunday.  Luckily everything's pretty spread out, so I won't be a crazy woman this week.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Edited to Add:  Remember I'm walking in this year's Relay for Life!  If you'd like to help, please visit my fundraising page!  Let's beat cancer TOGETHER!
