The Past Week!

It's summer!  Well, not technically, but we consider it summer when school's out!  My end-of-the-year stuff went pretty smoothly at work.  I really hated seeing my current students go.  I LOVED THEM!  They are going to make some sophomore teachers very happy next year.

I will probably go back some time this week to reorganize and throw some stuff away in my closet and then get stuff ready for the few weeks of summer school.  But I'm so excited that summer is here!

This past weekend we went to my Aunt Linda's in Atlanta.  She threw a get-together for the family and it was so great seeing everybody.  I've been a little more conscious of my food choices the past few weeks, but went CRAZY that day.  She had pulled pork, hamburgers, sausages, hotdogs, side dishes, and lovely desserts!  I LOVE sausages and hotdogs, so I didn't hold back.  Yikes!  I also had two lemon squares and a piece of red velvet cake.  Yummo!  I probably gained five pounds from that day alone, but it was SO worth it!  (But I really hope I'm exaggerating with the five pounds thing -- that would really suck).

She makes this lemonade that is SO GOOD and sweet. I drank a lot of it!

My mom went!  She hasn't seen my aunts probably since my wedding, so everyone was so happy to see each other.

Morgan's daddy took her outside for a while.  I didn't take any part in that!  That girl is NOT happy when she has to come back inside!

Playing on Aunt Linda's ottoman.  She climbed on and off this thing a million times.

Diaper change!

She played on that chair and ottoman so much that we had to take her dress off (her legs kept getting caught in it).  She also took a fall off that chair -- it was hilarious because all you saw were feet in the air!  Yes, she cried, but she was okay.  (And yes, I laughed after the fact...I think.)

We had a really good time and can't wait to do it again!

Then today we had a little photoshoot.  Well, not really.  It wasn't planned (as you can tell from Morgan's mismatch outfit/hat - ha!  You mean pink doesn't go with red and white polka dots?) I take my camera everywhere including our little neighborhood walks.  After letting Morgan down to play for a while, I decided to take it out.  What was supposed to be a snapshot turned into a mini-session.  She was hilarious.

Love this picture!  She's looking at me through the clear thing on the playground.

Looking at the people in the pool.  She was fascinated and watched them for like five minutes!

Messing with the bushes.

"Come on, Morgan, let's go!"  She's running to catch up with me, LOL.

We had a great weekend and are thrilled that there's NOTHING on the agenda for the week!  We might check out the McWane Center or the Childrens HandsOn Museum one day this week.  The zoo is out since it's supposed to be wet.  I was going to save our "field trips" for July, but it wouldn't hurt checking one out this week.  We'll see!

Have a good week, everyone!

The Sound of Music

Yesterday evening we had coaches' family pictures.  Afterwards, we all went to eat Mexican and probably weren't seated until well after 7:00.  Since that's pretty much Mo's bedtime, we were hoping she'd be in a good mood.  She was pretty good and feasted on cereal bars (her own little appetizer) and grilled cheese.  Instead of fries, we got her Mexican rice with it, which she thought would be fun to feed her daddy (though we had to put an end to that before it turned into a big mess).  Anyway, she was good.  But by the time we got halfway home, she was cranky and whiney.  So what do I do when she's like that?  Turn on her jams!

She really likes a very popular song from this movie.  Can you guess which song I'm talking about?

You're right (if you guessed Do-Re-Mi)!  I know this movie came out before my time, but like most folks I saw it as a kid.  And I have never forgotten that song! I used to sing it to Morgan when she was just a newborn, and it's always been a favorite on her little playlist.

Well, last night, while trying to cheer her up, I started playing it.  Before I realized it, she started singing the freakin' song!  It sounded something like this (she'd say the parts in bold):

DO! A dear, a female deer...
RE! A drop of golden sun...
MI! A name I call myself...

I. WAS. ROLLING!  First, because she got most of them right.  Second, because when she sings, she sings really hard and happy.  Then I LOST IT when on the "ti" part, she pointed to her teeth!  She thinks it says TEETH!  Hahaha!  I am just amazed at how she remembers these songs and certain parts.  It shows my prior knowledge of babies/toddlers and their abilities because I had no idea they could remember stuff like this!

Anyway, another Rodgers and Hammerstein musical I love is Cinderella -- the most recent movie version, particularly.  The one with Brandy and Whitney Houston:

Though this movie came out when I was like 14 (and watching Disney movies probably wasn't considered "cool"), I have seen it more times than I can count.  The soundtrack is SO GOOD and I have searched and searched for it for Morgan.  The only thing I've found on iTunes is the stage/musical version of it, so it's not the same vocalists.  I downloaded them anyway because I love the songs.  If you know where to find the soundtrack to this 1997 movie, please let me know.  It is hands down one of the best soundtracks ever!

Anyway, here are a few pics of the Monster playing before school this morning.

Just like with everything else, she likes my stuff more than her own.
Including my books and magazines!

Hope everybody's having a good week!

Fun in the Sun

We've had a pretty laid back weekend.  We took a walk and showed Morgan the lake in our neighborhood.  I was afraid we'd see a snake, so we went nowhere near the bank.  We took advantage of the little gazebo that goes out to the middle.  She loved looking and saying "water," and of course she didn't want to leave.

We came back and decided to let the Monster have some pool time.  So I threw on her bathing suit while her daddy inflated and filled the pool my mom's goddaughter recently gave us.

She got in and out...

...a million times...

...so she could go up and down the hill between our house and the neighbors'.

And then she'd come back and get in the pool.

Yes, that's a mixing bowl and measuring cups.  Had to keep her entertained!

She had a good time!

Now to some Sunday cleaning and getting stuff together for the week...then maybe some relaxation. The little one just woke up from her nap, so lunch for her first.  She's holding onto my arm right now because when she sees I'm on the computer, she thinks it's time to watch Yo Gabba Gabba on YouTube. I'd never seen the show on TV (still haven't) when I heard about it.  So I found a few clips on YouTube and we (yes, we, LOL) were instantly hooked.  Which says a lot because Morgan doesn't really like TV (besides her little videos).  That is the cutest, weirdest show ever.  Maybe this summer we'll actually catch a few episodes.

Anyway, hope everyone has a good week!  It's the last week for us, so I am PUMPED!  Hope it goes by quickly!
