Just Anotha Day

Well, not really, because Morgan went to the dentist this morning.  This was only her second time going.  And like her first visit back in the winter, I didn't have the guts to take pictures.  As camera-crazy as I am, I just cannot bring myself to take pictures at the dentist (or doctor) office.  And it's not that I don't want to (because I reeeeeally do -- I think any kind of "first" like that is picture-worthy).  It's just that I'm afraid the nurses and doctors will think I'm crazy.  And I don't want Morgan to be known as the child with the weirdo mama.

So I sort of sneak pictures with my phone.  I didn't have the guts to ask the nurse and doctor to take a picture with her.  I think it's so cute when I see pictures of children with their doctor -- but I'm afraid to ask.  I don't even know why because it's not that big a deal.  And her doctors and dentist are really nice and I'm sure wouldn't mind at all.

Anyway, the dentist visit went better than expected.  My child doesn't like getting her teeth brushed for more than five seconds so I worry about cavities.  (Partly because I am no stranger to them.  Hopefully she gets her daddy's teeth -- he's never had a cavity.  Like who's never had a cavity?)  Thankfully she was cavity-free.  She has like a lot of teeth now and more coming in, so that means even more brushing time.  The nurse suggested I hold her down almost like we're wrestling to get it done. I like the idea (I mean, it's gotta be done, right?). Anyway, back to the visit -- of course Morgan didn't like them in her mouth -- she squirmed and whined and all, but never had a full-out tantrum or crying episode.  Yay.  Pics from the waiting room:

We also went to Tuscaloosa today.  I accidentally left Morgan's stroller with Ashleigh when Morgan stayed a night with her last week, and we went to get it.  We used that as an opportunity to put to use our Children's HandsOn Museum summer membership.  Morgan got about 30 minutes of playtime (no pics).  We also went to eat at Newk's for the first time (their tomato soup was so good).

Then we went to Ash's to hang out for a little bit.  It wasn't extremely hot this evening so we went outside to play.  I love taking pictures outside, so I ended up getting my picture fix, anyway.

Though it looks like she's playing in the grass, this pic is actually after a fall.

I love this little kid so much!  She is tripping me out these days because she mocks everything we do and just does funny stuff all the time.  It's crazy how much sunshine one little bitty person can bring to life!

Anyway, hope everyone's having a good week!

McWane Center

I just wrapped up my last week of teaching summer school.  Those three weeks flew by.  I actually considered NOT teaching summer school this year (I loved being home with Morgan every day all day last summer), but I'm glad I did.  Three, short weeks were perfect.

Now for some FUN summer days with Morgan and DK!  Morgan looooves being outside -- I just wish it wasn't so HOT!  So instead of being outside all day this summer like I really wish we could, we have to find ways to entertain ourselves inside.  I just ordered a book and signed up for a little Web site that will give me ideas and fun things to do with her when we can't be outside. Reading and dancing and singing (some of our favorites) can't be done the WHOLE day, I guess, so hopefully my new little resources will give me some great ideas.  For example, I saw one activity where I would give her a whole bunch of Fruit Loops and let her sort them by color.  Simple, yet genius, right?

Morgan got a chance to spend some time with her big cousins this weekend! Remember those McWane Center passes I got off Groupon...I knew they would provide the perfect opportunity for Morgan to spend time with her big cousins Suga, Carmelanie, and Alteria.  We went last year with Carmelanie when Morgan was just around six months old, so it's fun this year to see her have fun right along with her big cousins.  We met my mom with the girls and they all had a blast.

My poor baby wasn't feeling the hurricane at first, LOL.

These two are sisters and are so sweet together.

Does it not look like these sharks are heading to eat my baby's hand off?!

But they were nice and not interested in eating her hand.

Apparently shark teeth don't scare her, anyway.

Everyone had a good time and I'm so glad Morgan got a chance to be with her cousins.

Have a great week, everybody!

~Class Reunion and Father's Day Weekend~

We had a great weekend -- my 10-year class reunion and Father's Day!

My class reunion was so, so, so, so fun!!!  We had a meet-and-greet (and karaoke - ha!) Friday night at Matehuala Mexican restaurant in Talladega and a social Saturday night (with good food, drinks, and music) at Alpine Bay.  It was hilarious catching up and reminiscing with high school friends! While we all now have jobs and responsibilities and kids and families and all that grown up stuff, it felt like high school Friday and Saturday night. I tried to take as many pictures as possible. I won't post any embarrasing ones -- I'll save those for the reunion pictures CD everyone's getting. Ha!

I was one of the people who planned the reunion, and not very many people initially seemed as excited as a few of us.  So of course I feared it wouldn't be a great turnout or that people wouldn't have fun. It turned out to be the exact opposite. Now I'm already looking forward to planning the next one -- we're thinking a cruise!  Which will be so fun because our senior trip was a cruise to the Bahamas.  Crazy to think that we'll be going on another one together, 20 years later. I'm excited already!

Here are some pics. I took a ton of them and thought most of them were worth putting on the blog (aka - my family scrapbook), but there were waaaay too many to post individually. So I did the collage thing (if you want to see the pics in a bigger version, you'll have to click them).

Besides some different hair and a few pounds gained (or lost, for some) here and there, none of us have really changed in these 10 years.  It was so great seeing everyone (outside of Facebook)!

My mom kept Morgan this weekend and of course they had fun together.  When I wasn't at a reunion event, we tried to see some family.  We planned to attend a softball game at my grandmother's church, but it rained out. But we still were able to see her as well as my aunt and two of my younger cousins.

Messing with Granna's magnets, as usual.

Playing with Suga.

Trying to get MeMaw to let her play on the porch stairs!

Acting silly with Granna.

"Pleeeeease, Suga, let me play on the stairs!"

I blinked my eyes and now my little cousin Xavolon is a young man!

I remember loving all over him when he was a baby - now he's holding my baby.
He'll be 16 next week.  TIME FLIES!

Last but not least, Father's Day.  After a busy weekend, we had a very low-key Father's Day.  DK and I were EXHAUSTED.  Morgan, on the other hand, went to Gadsden with her Auntie Ashleigh to Danny's Granny to spend time with the Kimbles.  I know Morgan enjoyed that!

DK spent the day chillin' on the couch watching baseball, soccer, and golf while I did some things around the house.  I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Danny, I know you don't read the blog that much (though I'll ask you to check it out so you can see this), but you are an amazing father to our little girl.  She loves you so, so much, and I love to watch you guys together.  I love the way you protect her, discipline her, love her, play with her -- just everything.  One of my greatest pleasures in life is to watch the two of you.  Thank you for being who you are.  You mean the world to us.

DK and I both are blessed with fathers who are alive and well and love us so much.  We literally wouldn't be here without them :) and thank God for them!

I hope everyone has a great week!
