Beach, Beach, Beach!

We just got back from a week in Destin with The Kimbles (SIL, MIL, and FIL).  We got there last Saturday and my mom and two nieces drove down Wednesday.  We had a good time -- beach, pool, shopping, and eating.

The girls had a blast.

Carmelanie loves cooking shows, so she made me a (sand) birthday cake two days in a row. I'm a lucky auntie to have had TWO birthday cakes during the trip -- especially since the actual day isn't until September! :)

Please don't turn me in if this was child abuse, but it was too funny!

Especially since she sat there quietly and didn't move the entire time my mom did this!

She didn't mind the waves hitting her at all.

Aren't they so sweet?

The only picture of my baby daddy and me, and Blogger has rotated it and won't let me fix it.

All exhausted after a day at the beach.  All piled in Ashleigh's bed!

I finally found an old phone a couple of weeks ago to give to Morgan.  And though she certainly notices that it doesn't "light up" like Mama's and Daddy's, she still has some DEEP conversations on this phone.  It's hilarious!  I'll try to remember to record it.

Morgan and her PaPa.  My FIL takes her out of her stroller in public places where DK and I wouldn't imagine doing so, so he is like her best friend.  And just in case you're wondering why we won't dare take her out -- because she gets down and RUNS FOR IT (just like in this picture).  She doesn't like you to hold her hand.  Little Miss Independent.

Banana pop!

Carmelanie got some swim lessons from Uncle Danny.  She learned so much -- we're very proud of her!

At my grandma's house with the girls before they left to go home.

We had a great time.  And while I'd love to tell more, I am exhausted.  I'll be busy the next couple of days and didn't want to wait that long to post! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Morgan "Reading" Pocahontas

I am really bad with videos, but just recently found an app on my phone that makes it pretty simple to share (nevermind that camcorder we bought right before Mo was born). She's going through this phase where she wants to "read" the books all by herself. Danny says she's dramatic with her reading like her mama - what do you think? LOL

*If you enjoyed this story, she reads The Gingerbread Man in the post below.*

Wild West Wednesday

We haven't been up to much this week -- still doing little projects around the house.  This week:  OUR closet! I remember when we bought this house, I was so happy our closet had some space.  That came back to bite me, though, because that means more room to throw clothes on the floor -- which means more to clean and organize on days like this!  I did Part I yesterday...and hope to finish Part II today (yes, I've had to do it in parts)!

Yesterday I sort of felt like Morgan was bored while I was working (think toddler on your heels every step you take, tugging on your PJ pants, etc. while you're bagging up clothes and stuff).  Today I said I'd take her to a show at the public library.  We got to catch Annie Oakley's Wild West Show (Madcap Puppets) before it left town.

I was wondering if it'd be too much for a 19 month-old, but she actually watched the whole time.

We also got a chance to spend time with a friend I met this school year and her daughter.

Meredith student-taught across the hall from me this year and we talked babies between class all the time (her daughter just turned two).  Finally Morgan and Evie got to meet.  It was so busy at the library that they didn't really get to play together, but maybe we'll see them again before we go back to school.  (By the way, Meredith makes dresses and is the creator behind that cute little orange jumper dress Morgan has with her initial on the front.  And remember that cute little elephant jumper dress Morgan wore at the A-Day tailgate?  Yep, that was Meredith.)

Anyway, I should finish this post before the little one wakes up.  She was out by the time we made it home and has slept right through lunch, so I know the first thing she's going to say when she wakes up is "eat-eat." :)  Hope everyone's having a good week!

Party, Park, and Pre-Terrible Twos

We've had a pretty fun weekend.  Saturday Morgan went to a birthday party for KJ, who's turning two.  KJ is the son of Kent and Martha, who we met when we came to Hoover in 2006 (Kent was on the Hoover coaching staff).  We'd just gotten married and Kent and Martha were planning a wedding.  After that year, they moved to Florida (where Martha's from) and we went to visit them during our spring break.  Martha was about five months pregnant with KJ and though I didn't know it yet, I was pregnant, too.  Now they're back in Alabama and DK and Kent are coaching together again at Spain Park.
That's the birthday boy with the hat and balloon!

He and Morgan danced a lot, LOL.

That's KJ about to blow out his two football candles. :)  That's Martha next to him...and though you can't tell, she's about four weeks away from delivering KJ's baby brother! :)

Then Sunday, after having my nieces over the weekend, my mom brought them by so Morgan could spend some time with them.  She said they'd been asking for her all weekend.  The girls really love the park so I knew we had to go.  However, on our way there, down came the rain.  So Plan B?  The public library!  I knew there was a whole section just for kids so we got there and, though it wasn't the park, I think they enjoyed the computer games, puzzles, and books.

To no surprise, we came out of the library to a beautiful, sunny sky, so off to the park we went!

We couldn't stay long because the girls had to go home.  Somebody WASN'T happy to be leaving the park.

Are the Terrible Twos here early?

She was pretty upset so we tried the reverse psychology thing and pretended that WE were all leaving, and leaving her at the park.  We halfway got in the car and everything (the girls didn't get it -- they were like "we can't leave Morgan!!").  Anyway, Morgan didn't seem to mind because this is what she said when she saw what we were doing...

"Bye!" and turned around and headed back towards the playground.  Oh, my gosh, what do I have on my hands?!

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great week!
