Old Teacher Visit + a Twilight Date

We haven't been up to very much the last few days.  Earlier this week I took Morgan to see her old teacher at her old school.  Ms. Angelia was her teacher when Morgan was in the Infant Room and she just took really good care of our baby.  We are forever thankful for her.  She calls Morgan every once in a while and we thought it'd be great to go by and see her.  We plan to do so a few more times this summer (while we have we have the time), and even take her some lunch once or twice.  Danny and I can never repay her for the peace of mind she gave us when Morgan was in her class.

We also had date night -- Danny took me to see Eclipse!  Which still blows my mind because Danny thinks the whole Twilight series is silly.  I usually have to go see the movies with other girls.  Just to show you how silly he thinks Twilight is, this is how our conversation went last night while waiting for the movie to start.  I tried several times to explain to Danny the background of the movie.  I'd gotten to the part explaining to him that the Cullens consider themselves "vegetarian" vampires because they don't drink human blood.

Danny:  "So what do they eat?"
Me:  "Animal blood."
Danny: "Animals? Well, they're not vegetarians."

I get his point, but whatever.  I was just excited that we were there.

So why would Danny all of a sudden want to take me to see one of the Twilight movies when he's never taken me to see any of the others?  We were watching TV earlier this week and there was a segment on some show about the movie.  Danny caught a glimpse of the fighting scenes and asked if I wanted to go see it.  Um, YEAH!  It was the action that got him interested, but I didn't care.  Before he changed his mind, I got online and bought our tickets! He loves to see movies at the Imax downtown (at the McWane Center), so I went to their Web site assuming that they'd be sold out on opening day (even if it wasn't the opening midnight show that I'm sure sold out months in advance).  They weren't yet, so I was thrilled!  We got there like 30 minutes early and were still almost at the back of the line, but still managed to get decent seats (thankfully there really aren't any bad seats in that theater).  It was great!

And in case you're wondering, I'm Team Jacob.  I find Edward too...perfect.  Extremely kind, understanding, rich...  Overrated!  :) Bella needs to one day be able to say after an argument, "You started it."  Poor girl will rarely able to say that with Edward.  Jacob, on the other hand, is more your typical guy -- says things before thinking, isn't afraid to tell Bella when she's wrong, etc.  I'm Team Jacob because he's more realistic. (You notice I didn't mention his *ahem* "stature."  And I won't.  I'm gonna keep my mouth closed.  But I don't have to open my mouth to say "mmm, mmm, mmm!")

Anyway, here are some pictures from our date.  Danny HATES taking pictures and always has (which doesn't work well with the fact that I LOVE to take pictures).  Before we got married and before we had Morgan, Danny and I took a few trips.  I don't have very many physical memories of any of them. :( And even our honeymoon -- I think I have three pictures from it.  THREE!

Anyway, all of it somewhat changed when we had Morgan.  I told him he no longer had a choice!  And on our blog (that will be printed and seen by our children -- maybe grandchildren and beyond) I want to chronicle the fact that pretend that we had lives outside of being parents.  So I try to document some things we do outside of those roles.  An example of my attempts:

At first, I just tried to sneak a shot while Danny looked the other way (and snap it as soon as he turned around).  I was either too soon or never quick enough.

I am aware that I look totally goofy here, but I felt so sneaky (because he thought my phone was just in my hand resting on the window)!  He had no idea I had the camera on -- so funny!

Then I tried to take the picture from my lap.  Cut myself off, so that didn't work either.

Then I finally confessed to Danny what I was trying to do and he, of course, rebelled (unsuccesfully blocking his face with his hand).  This was the best shot I could get.  And Blogger won't even upload the rotated version!  Oh, well, so much for that.

Anyway, here is a shot of one of the displays at the theater.

Okay, okay, yes, YES I considered going up and taking a picture with the life-sized version of the characters, but I'm glad I didn't.  LOL

Anyway, we've had a great couple of days.  I didn't get a whole lot done around the house, but I did clean the inside of the car really good.  It was much-needed.  I got out all the junk (toys, clothes, old mail, long-lost pacis, etc.), wiped down all the surfaces, and vacuumed all the floors.  Danny said he was impressed -- ha!

We look forward to spending time with family in the next couple of days.  I hope that you all have a safe and wonderful Fourth of July!

  1. Darrell actually asked me several times if I want to go and see this movie! I said "no". I saw the first one and plan to see the last one or wait until all of the Twilight movies are out. :) I got so frustrated with Star Wars so this time, I'm waiting. :) Oh, Gerri, I like Edward because he is a vampire. :) :)
