Family, Shower, & Tailgatin'

This weekend, I went to Atlanta for a cousin's baby shower.  It was a family shower, so we all drove up early Saturday morning to prepare.  I don't see this side of my family that much, so I'd been looking forward to it for weeks.

I enjoyed the small moments as much as the actual shower itself -- the talks and laughs as we prepared everything.
Two of my aunts working on the small details.

In the Kitchen

I love, love, love shower games!  My cousin had prepared a book full of games and they were fun.  I'm really terrible at them and never win, but I can't get enough of them!

My cousin, Mary (on the far right), was in charge of everything.  Here she is explaining one of the games.

Some of the favors.

...and the cake!  SO GOOD.

One of my little cousins came to the shower with his mom.  He saw me on the couch looking through the camera and asked if he could see, too.  I told him there was a $10 viewing fee, so he pulled a couple of $1 bills from his pocket! Too funny!

Of course he wanted to take pics -- he was so funny.  We took a thousand of them, but looked like aliens with weird heads on most of them (like this one!  Camera angle is a powerful thing...)

My birthday is later this month, and it's on the same day as my great-aunt's, Mae Frances.  I thought the birthday girls should take a picture together. :)

Here's another one of my aunt's, my mom's baby sister, Vonne.

Probably my favorite pic of the day.  Some of the women in my family.  The mama-to-be, Carla, wasn't feeling so hot earlier that day and wasn't there for a lot of the earlier photo ops (and I didn't take many pics during the shower because I was having to much fun trying to finally win a shower game), but she's the one on the middle row, second from the right.  We look forward to meeting baby Kaylin Ann!

My mama and me playing around as we were stopping to get gas on the way home. We both were hot and sweaty on this pic, so it's not particularly my favorite, but I like it because you can actually see that little dimple I got from her (she has two -- but only gave me one).  Most of the time when I smile you can't see it, but sometimes (or maybe from certain angles), you can.  It's the same way with Morgan.  She has a dimple, too, but you can only see it sometimes.

Speaking of Morgan, you may be wondering where she was during all of this.  Well, she was with her daddy in Bama country!  Whenever she's away from me, I send texts asking for pictures of her so I won't miss her so much.

So I texted my sister-in-law, and she sent me these and a couple more.

Then I texted her daddy, and he sent me this...

Now, do you notice any difference in the pics?  Let me help you -- you see how close my sister-in-law's pics are?  Now look at this one Danny sent (above). He is across the way sitting with a cooler and a remote.  And you can't even see my kid -- just a silhouette of her in her playspace!  I'm thankful for my in-laws, who I'm sure entertained my baby the whole time.  Haha!

And then Harolyn sent me this one -- how precious!

On another note, remember how I said my in-laws were such great tailgaters?  Well, they won the Publix Tailgate of the Week and were shown on the jumbotron at the game.  How fun is that!  Their tailgates are just so comfortable.  Just to give you an idea:  my FIL always puts carpet on the ground so we don't have to worry about grass and ants and stuff.  :)  And of course, there's always plenty to eat, lots of feel-good music, football games on TV, and family and friends.  Perfect.

Anyway, I'm gearing up for a new week.  This week is probably my first of the school year where I start the week with a to-do list up to my nose.  So I'm going to spend the rest of my Sunday cleaning my house and getting our stuff together for the week so that I can just relax when I get home in the afternoons.

Wishing you all a very happy and productive week!

  1. Matt and I came by your tailgate Saturday...we missed seeing you. But we got to visit with Danny and saw cute little Morgan for a bit. Your MIL was in that playpen playing with her and fanning her. It was so sweet :) And yes, they totally deserve the tailgate of the game award. They have an awesome set up!!

  2. Girl, I love the dress you wore at your cousins's baby shower! You look great! Love, love the picture with the dimple. I didn't even know you have one! :) :)

I was LOL when I saw the picture that Danny sent of Morgan. I would have never known Morgan was in the "pen" if not for the previous photos! Men and football... they can't multi task when it's on.
