Baton Rouge and 23 Months

I'm a little tired, so I hope this post makes sense in the morning.

We went to Baton Rouge for the Bama/LSU game. Danny and I went with his sister Ashleigh and cousin Tommie. It's always fun being around them. The trip could have been a little better had the Tide won, of course, but it was still great.

The Monster stayed with my in-laws and had a great time.  She spent some quality time with Granny, Danny's grandmother, too, so that was good.

Speaking of the Monster, she turned 23 months today!  The countdown to TWO has officially begun.

My Dearest Morgan,
YOU ARE MY HEART.  So spunky, sweet, and independent all at the same time.  You're so special.  I wanted to get some pictures of you tonight (even if you were in PJs).  You were all over the place, as usual, but I managed to get a few.

So, what have you been up to?  EVERYTHING.  You have a few new obsessions.
  1. Buses.  You see plenty of them on our way to school every morning, and you are just fascinated with them.  You get really excited and are sure to let me know when you see one!
  2. Stickers.  You just really like 'em.
  3. A few letters and numbers.  You love the letters E and O, and the number 5.  You will point them out wherever we are -- and they're usually in the middle of a word.  Sometimes you'll point to the letter S and think it's a 5.
  4. John Paul.  He's your friend at school that you talk about ALL THE TIME.  His name was in the first "for-sure" sentence I heard you say ("Where is John Paul?").

You've officially been sleeping in your own room a week, and you're doing a really good job with it. Tonight when I put you down, you contested for about three minutes -- but that was it. I still miss you so much at night, but I know you're where you need to be. Especially when you woke up about 30 minutes before alarm clock time and we put you in bed with us. You fell asleep and did what you used to do: hog my pillow and put your feet in your daddy's face. It was a perfect reminder that we did the right thing. :)

Though life with you is just amazing, it's not always peaches and cream. You are still so freakin' independent in public and aren't really a fan of being in the stroller or holding our hand. You are not even two! So, NO, you can't walk on your own. That usually results in an unhappy Morgan.  You're not like most kids where we can let you go and you walk with us -- you like going the other way and leaving us.  It's not funny at the time, but it's always funny when I think about it later (like now).

At home, you're the complete opposite. You follow me through the house and it's so sweet. If I move to another room, you'll pick up whatever you're playing with, come with me, and make you a playspot near me. It's so sweet, and I know that one day I'm going to look back and wish for the days where you don't want to leave my side.

You love to give hugs and kisses -- the sweetest hugs and kisses ever! You're an amazing little girl, and extremely blessed doesn't begin to describe how we feel.

You're the best monster ever!

I hope everyone has a great week.  Grades are due for mid-nine weeks reports this week, so I've got tons of stuff to grade.  My eyes are so heavy right now, so I just hope this post is okay. :-)  Enjoy your week!
