Football & Tailgatin'

We've had a great weekend.  Though Friday night ended our football season, I am so proud of the Jags!  I usually don't blog very much about our "Friday-night" football life until it's playoffs (like two years ago at Hoover when we lost in the state championship game and Morgan was born the next morning, and last year when we won the state championship game, defeating the same team that beat us the year before).  Playoffs are so exciting and scary at the same time!

I did post a little earlier this season when we played Hoover.  That game didn't end so well and wasn't easy to watch.  Well, we met up again with Hoover in the second round of the playoffs on Friday night.  Though it ended with the same result, it was pretty fun to watch -- much closer than the last game! :)  Go Jags!

I hope Hoover goes on to win it all.  Many of those kids are mine (well, I still feel like they are since I taught them when they were just freshmen), so I want them to do well.  On that note, one day earlier this year, my students asked me the question I knew would come up eventually.

"Mrs. Kimble, who do you cheer for when Hoover plays Spain Park?"

While I thought it was pretty obvious what this answer would be, I looked at their faces and they were serious.  Of course I told them the truth.

They go on to ask me why.  I explained to them that family always comes first.  Their response?

"Mrs. Kimble, we're your family, too!" :)

Haha!  They are SO cute.  But they're right, Hoover is family, too. Win it again, Bucs!

It was more football for us on Saturday inTuscaloosa.  Morgan liked hanging with her big cousin, Kedra.

A lady was walking around with a big bird and George took Morgan over to see it.

Then the lady insisted I hold the bird so Morgan and I could get a picture.  I was totally fine with getting a picture of Morgan petting the bird, but, um, okay.  Sure.

I'm glad we took the picture 'cause it's kinda funny.  I'm looking crazy and so is Morgan.  Her look is from amazement, I'm sure, but mine is more of a "birds-aren't-exactly-the cleanest-animals" kind of look.  Okay, maybe the big goofy smile doesn't exactly say that, but it was definitely what I was thinking.  And then after this pic, the bird started eating and ruffling my hair.  Great.

We had a relaxing day tailgating, and I'm ready for some Iron Bowl tailgating.  My mother-in-law says for that one she's asking people to make chili -- yummm, I can't wait!

Anyway, it's sort of a gloomy Sunday afternoon.  Morgan stayed with my in-laws this morning in Tuscaloosa and I came home and did laundry, cleaned the bathrooms, and cooked.  I'm gonna try to get a few more things done before the Monster gets here. I know when she gets here I'm going to love on her like I didn't see her a few hours ago, haha!  She's so fun!

Have a good week, guys!

  1. That bird is huge! We were going to walk over and see you guys yesterday, but we started watching the AU game and didn't leave. SP has gotten SOOO good this year! You guys did awesome Friday night. We (Paige and Marci) were talking about how we missed you :(

  2. Hey!! Yay! I got my promo code too and I can't wait to create our cards. There are soooo many cute ones I'm having a hard time deciding. This was an awesome promotion and Shutterfly was so fast getting the code to me! That bird is HUGE seriously!
