Awesome Weekend

We had a great weekend.  My mom came to stay with us and was already at our house when Morgan and I got home on Friday.  After a visit to the playground, we went to the thrift store (my mom's favorite).  I found some books for Morgan - being the big money-saver I am, I never thought to do the thrift store for books.  I'm glad I did.

Then Saturday we just relaxed.  I even took a nap while Morgan napped (which I never do).  That night my mom kept the Monster while DK and I went on a date.  We had a good dinner and saw The Lincoln Laywer afterwards (which was awesome, by the way -- highly recommend).  We had such a great night.

Then Sunday, my mom and I did lunch -- just the two of us.  I'm pretty sure it's been years since we've done that, and it was nice.  We did a little shopping afterwards, and she even went to Target with me while I did our grocery shopping for the week.  It was great.

My mom begged me not to take pics, so I don't have any to share, but I hope I will next weekend.  Several of us are going to a concert, and I'm looking forward to it!

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great week.

Friday Flashback

I hate that I missed last week, but I guess the Friday Flashback posts took a Spring Break, too.

I have enjoyed my little flashback posts and look forward to posting many more.  I originally tried to go with a theme when posting --  pics of Danny and me as kids that are similar, but that's become difficult because there are many I haven't scanned yet.  So I'm going with random photos that just happen to be on this flash drive of old pics.  So that means posts will be of Danny only, me only, or us together.

Let's start with a super embarrassing pic of yours truly.  I've always said Morgan gets her large head from her daddy, but who am I kidding?  I'm really the one who had the big head.  I had to grow into it.

You see that little person in the middle with the fivehead?  That would be me.  In 7th grade.  Totally looking like a 4th grader.

I was always smaller than every once else.  I'm the same age as all of these girls basically (well there were three of us 7th graders on this team of mostly 8th graders-- but pretty much still the same age).  I probably weighed 60 pounds in junior high, and most of that was my head!  SO FUNNY!

Be sure to check back next Friday.  I have another embarrassing pic of me that is a hot mess.

Have a great weekend!

Spring Break Day V (Miami Children's Museum) - Final Trip Post

I checked out some kid spots online before we went to Miami, and the Miami Children's Museum had some high ratings.  We're pretty big fans of hands-on children museums, so I knew we had to check it out.

Playing music on the cruise ship.  Check out the shirt -- haha!

They had an outside playground!

I think Morgan enjoyed the museum.

Our flight wasn't until later that day so we had time to go by a local shopping spot.  The Rainforest Cafe there had a nice indoor playground, so Morgan was thrilled about that.  It wasn't exactly for toddlers, but that didn't stop her from quickly finding a friend and going up to play with the rest of them.  I freaked out for a minute because there were times I couldn't see her, but she crawled through those tunnels and slid down the big slides just like the big kids.  As soon as she finally came out (it seemed like forever) I bribed her away with promises of ice cream.  And she doesn't forget anything, so I had to find an ice cream store quickly. Ha!

Our flight back went pretty smoothly (thanks to the iPod, plenty of snacks, and my in-laws on the row behind us), and Morgan was asleep five minutes after getting in the car to go home.

Here's Morgan with her daddy in the airport -- the very last pic I took on this trip.

We had a GREAT Spring Break! :)

Spring Break Day IV (Key West)

We drove to Key West on Thursday, and it started off a little rocky.  My child was NOT happy being in the car that long, and it made for an extra long ride.  She can be cranky like any other toddler, but that day she was super tired (I think the time change and different time zone threw us off a lot) and she wouldn't nap.  I know we sometimes call her Monster, but we REALLY saw a monster that day!  Whew!  I was so relieved when we finally arrived!

After lunch.

Thursday was St. Patty's Day and the Monster and I didn't pack anything green.  My MIL brought along beads, so we were a little bit festive. :)

Walking on the pier with PaPa.

All of us!  I'm not sure we've ever taken a picture with all of us!

And just so no one wonders, I'm not expecting.  :)  I bought a few of these dresses because they seemed so comfortable, but they're not very flattering on me.  I look very withchild-like (and I'm not just talking about the stomach...ahem).

Sharing a smoothie.

I really liked Key West -- it was probably my favorite part of the trip.  I loved the small-town feel.  Day IV started off a little rocky but ended just fine.  I'd love to visit Key West again someday.

Spring Break Day III (More Beach and Miami Heat Game)

I snapped this quick shot of the Monster before they headed out to the beach. I stayed up to work on a little grad school stuff.

My in-laws' friends got us tickets to the Miami Heat game.  I'm not a big basketball fan, but I knew it would be fun to go watch the James-Wade-Bosh trio.

I tried to catch LeBron James doing his powder thing, but it wasn't half as dramatic as I've seen him do it in the past.  This was as he was putting the powder on his hands.  I missed the actual hand clapping part.  Lovely.

Warming up.

The trio coming out.

I like Dwyane Wade. :)  I'll admit that it's only because of his girlfriend, Gabrielle Union.  LOVE HER.

My FIL bought Morgan a little bear from the gift shop, and he's wearing a #6 James jersey. Of course we named him LeBron.  She treats him like her other babies.  It's so funny to hear her say, "LeBron, want me change your diaper?"  Haha!

Miami Day III was a pretty cool experience.

Spring Break Day II (Beach)

Miami Beach was nice, peaceful, and perfect.  The weather while we were there was high 70s, low 80s.

But before we headed out, someone found my glasses and thought she should try them on!

Oatmeal on the balcony. :)

We tried on Morgan's hat from over the summer, and it no longer fit.  So she wore one of her daddy's hats this time -- yep, an adult hat!  When he tightened it, it fit her head perfectly - ha!  I thought it looked so cute on her.

SIL and MIL

Us

I absolutely LOVE this pic my SIL snapped.  I cropped it and made a black and white version (it's the first pic on my post from Sunday).  So precious.

She loved the sand and water and wanted someone to take her down to the water over and over.

Trying to be like the grown-ups and relax in a lounge chair.

Her little feet kept falling through.

She loved the pool.

Two girls who obviously love each other to pieces.

Then we met up with my friend Janeka for dinner.  I've known Janeka since elementary school.  We've gone to school together all our lives -- we even went to the same college.  She moved to Ft. Lauderdale a few years ago, and it's been so long since I've seen her.  I've seen her MAYBE once since my wedding -- and I got married five years ago!  It was SO great spending a little time with her.

Miami Day II was awesome.

Spring Break Day I (South Beach)

We had an evening flight, so the next morning was the first time Morgan saw Miami in daylight.  I think she remembers the last time we were at the beach, but that didn't stop her from admiring the view.

On the balcony with PaPa.

Headed to South Beach.  Minnie came along.

Lunch.  I LOVE this picture of my SIL.

South Beach caters to all ages, apparently - it had a playground!  And of course once Mo saw it from the car, we had to stop.  We had to buy her a little "play" dress from a gift shop so her regular clothes wouldn't get filthy.

South Beach was crowded, but nice to experience.  We also had dinner with long-time friends of my in-laws, and I didn't get any pictures! :-(

Day I in Miami was great!
