MIA (Spring Break)

Hey, y'all!  I've sorta been MIA the past week.  It was Spring Break for us! I'm a little sad it's almost over, though. :-(

I wanted to blog this week but didn't have much to say that wouldn't give away the fact that we were away from home.  I meant to still do my Friday Flashback but never got a chance to.  It'll be back to the regularly scheduled flashback posts next Friday.  :)

For Spring Break we went to the MIA -- my first time in Miami (though I think we've actually stopped in Miami before for a connecting flight on our honeymoon, but that doesn't count).  We had a great time -- and of course I'm going to blog about it.  I'm spreading it across five or six posts to avoid having so much in one post.  I'll schedule one to post every morning for the next few days.

Just to quickly sum up our trip, we did the beach (of course) dinner with friends, South Beach, a Miami Heat game, Key West, and the Miami Children's museum -- a wonderful trip.  Usually I'm ready to go home by Day 4 or 5 of a trip (sometimes earlier - traveling with a little one is hard even when you have a lot of help), but this time, I wasn't quite ready to come home.

I'll start with our plane ride there.  Plane rides aren't typically anything to write home about, but planes are kind of a big deal in my house -- Morgan is OBSESSED with airplanes. The last time she was on one was a year ago, and she, of course, doesn't remember that.  So the whole week leading up to the trip we told her she'd get to ride an airplane and that it was taking her to Miami.  She would tell you exactly that when you asked her about it (like she REALLY knew what Miami was).

She was fascinated with all the planes, just as I expected.  She also loves buses and trains and got to ride them both while we were there.  I'm pretty sure the airport was one of the highlights of the trip for her! :)

She also loves escalators -- here's her daddy taking her for a ride to keep her occupied while we waited.

Walking through the airport with PaPa Coach.

She did pretty good on the plane (it was a 1.5 hour flight).  She loved looking at the planes on the runway while we waited and looking at the ground while we were flying.  My brilliant husband thought to bring out an old iPod and upload episodes of her favorite shows.  It saved us from the meltdowns!

Thank GOD my in-laws were on the row behind us because she would only watch so much of The Fresh Beat Band and YoGabbaGabba.  When she needed a change of scenery, Auntie Ash was there waiting on the next row.

So these were just a few pics from the start of our trip. Tomorrow's post will begin the actual Miami pics.  I'm going to try to schedule them all tonight so that I don't have to think about posting them this week.  I have a feeling I'm going to need a week to get back used to our regular routines.

Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend!
