Her "Terrible Twos" Alter Ego Makes an Appearance

Doesn't this little girl look SO SWEET?  Well, this little girl also has an alter ego that is definitely the epitome of the Terrible Twos stage...

We love free entertainment, so we try to catch as many kid shows at our local library's theater as possible.  We've been to two already this summer.  This pic is from this morning as we were heading out to see a show...

You know how they ask kids during shows to come on the stage to "help?"  Well, they did that today and Morgan immediately wanted to be one of those kids that went onstage.  I eventually took her up to participate (which I don't do while she's this age since she's usually one of the younger kids...and older children tend to care more about things like that...or so I thought...). She danced with the other kids as expected.  But then came the time for the kids to go back to their seats, and the featured character takes back over the show.  Oh, man.  Morgan wanted to stay up there with the character.  So she threw a fit and I thought it'd be best if we just left.  Or at least step out of the door and talk.  She told me over and over "I'll be a good girl!  I'll be a good girl!"  because she so badly wanted to get back in there to the show.  We had a little talk and we convinced each other that when we went back in, we wouldn't have another episode like that.

So I gave her another chance (and a snack - ha), and she was good for about 10 minutes.  Then the time came for more volunteers to go on the stage.  She TOTALLY forgot about my threat to go home and had another fit.  Okay, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.  We got OUTTA THERE.

She cried and pleaded and was just pitiful.  But I don't give second third chances.  So we headed home and she cried herself to sleep on our short drive home.  I felt so sorry for her because I knew she wanted to be there, but I've gotta be firm and stay true to my word.

There are many days where I'm still learning with this parenting thing, and today was definitely one of those days.  Why does she think it's okay to go limp and sit on the floor when she doesn't get what she wants (yeah, she was THAT kid today).  I'll be so glad when she gets out of this Terrible Twos stage.  At least I hope it's just Terrible Twos.  Sheesh!

My little sweetheart was her normal self when she woke up from her nap.  We spent the day at home just playing, reading, singing, dancing, and playing music.  Have I ever told you how she makes DK and I play in her band?  She's ALWAYS the drummer, and DK and I are stuck with the keyboard or guitar.  Ha!  :)  And she starts every song by hitting her sticks together and saying "One, Two, Three, Four!"  Too funny!

Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend!
