Day III was really cool because we rode the ferry to Ellis Island.  (The subway pic above is misleading.  We didn't ride the subway at all, but I loved the photo opp here.)

And of course to get to Ellis Island you have to pass ol' Lady Liberty.

Doesn't Instagram make phone pics so awesome?

The top of the Statue of Liberty was closed, so we didn't get to go up there.  Random thought, but am I the only person that thinks of Michael Jackson when I see the Statue of Liberty?  Remember the song Black or White?  The video?

We visited Ellis Island Immigration Museum. I've never been a history person (well, I kinda hated history), but that seems to be changing with age.  This place completely fascinated me and was probably one of the highlights of the trip for me.  As I've gotten older (and maybe since I've had a child), I have this thirst for knowledge about my ancestors.  I don't know if I had ancestors come through Ellis Island (I've heard that 40% of Americans had at least one ancestor arrive to America on Ellis Island), but it sure made me wonder about it and a whole lot more.  I feel a project coming on...

The Great Hall where thousands of immigrants were processed.

This is what it looked like back in the very early 1900s.

The photo of these families were amazing.

I could look at them all day.

If you've never gone to Ellis Island, I'd highly recommend it. You can just FEEL the history in the air.

We were then given time to shop on 5th Avenue.  Since my budget doesn't really allow for me to shop at most 5th Avenue stores (um, Gucci, Fendi, Cartier, etc.), I enjoyed the walking and the occasional strawberries-dipped-in-chocolate in the windows.

That night we went to see this:

Spiderman on Broadway!  I had my reservations about seeing Spiderman in a musical since what I like about him the most is how he throws that Web and climbs on stuff, but this show didn't disappoint.  He was all over that theater.  It was pretty awesome.  And it was my first time seeing a show on Broadway.

Day III was filled with a perfect combination of history and entertainment.  Tomorrow's post will wrap up the trip.  We were pretty busy on our last day, too, as we got some more history and entertainment during a tour of the Apollo Theater!  We also got a tour of Radio City Music Hall and chatted with a pretty special Rockette.  And the tree at Rockefeller Center?  We saw that earlier in the trip but I forgot to post it.  I'll post it tomorrow, too.

It's Thursday!  December is flying by!  Slow down, please.  Christmas season is the BEST!

Have a good day, folks!
