Camping at the Beach

M and DK went camping at the beach with my in-laws over the weekend.  My father-in-law has been telling M that he would take her camping for a while now, and they finally got around to it.  She loved it.

They are so good with taking pics and sending them to me regularly -- especially my sister-in-law.  So thankful for that.  I miss M a lot when she's away, so the pics help a great deal.  (Speaking of my SIL, I think it's hilarious that you can see her peeking out of the camper in the above pic - haha!)

M with her PaPa.

Watching a video with TeeTee.

Watching an iPad while camping.  SO "new generation."

M saw this tiny frog on the chair and told her daddy it was Prince Naveen from the Princess and the Frog.  Hilarious -- and I can totally hear her saying that.

Roasting marshmallows.  My sis-in-law took a video of this, too, that I may post one day soon.  Funny.

With her daddy.

We've got a picture just like this from Spring Break last year.  And then there's a similar one from last summer.  I love these sweet shots.

M had a great time on her first camping trip -- how special. :)  It was also cool because it's the exact same pop-up camper that her daddy camped in as a child. Love it.

I didn't go on the trip this time -- for several reasons.  The main ones being I was TIRED, didn't feel like traveling,  and just really needed some me time.  I made Easter buckets with my fam Saturday (fun!), stayed in town the night so I could go to my mom's church (love her church - - wish it was closer), painted my finger and toenails (never, ever have time to do that!), and that's about it -- there's not much you can fit into two days.  But it was enough for me to rejuvenate before my peeps got back.

I do plan to join them next time since I'm no stranger to camping.  Camping and me actually go way back -- to the 90s, to be exact, when I was a Girl Scout. There have been many nights that I have gone to sleep to the sounds of frogs, crickets, and all things that go bump in the night.  Nights where I had to walk through the woods to the bathhouse.  I remember holding my need to go to the restroom in the middle of the night because I wasn't too crazy about taking that 3 AM walk.  We stayed atop wooded hills that felt like the middle of nowhere. Ahhh, memories.  :)  Girl Scout camp was a lot of swimming (in a lake, not a pool), kayaking/canoeing, and all the typical camp stuff. But more importantly, it's where my love for the outdoors began.  Having a child of my own has really brought all of those feelings back. I hope that when M gets old enough, she'll continue to love the outdoors. I hope she will want to be a Girl Scout, too.  I was one, my mom was one (and I think my mother-in-law was one), so I'll keep my fingers crossed that M will want to be one, too.

So anyway, SB has been great.  We went to the zoo today and got a couple of things accomplished.  I'll probably post some zoo pics tomorrow.

Hope you're having a good week!
