Zoo Love

Last Friday my mom was in town for an appointment and I had the day off.  That alone makes for some kind of date.  But when she said my niece was with her, I knew it had to be a date with some extra fun mixed in. So I asked my niece to choose our spot for the day, and she chose the zoo. Works for us!

We got to see the lion training this time.
I'm not sure we've ever been there for the lion training, but it was pretty cool.

These little guys and girls celebrated their first birthday last month (big babies, right?).
This is how they looked last year (and we think OUR babies grow in a year's time).

Mama and two (of her three) grandgirls.

My niece is a hoot! About halfway through the afternoon, she and I decided that we'd speak with British accents the rest of the time. Our accents were horrible, so I'm sure people who heard us thought we were a little coo-coo.  We didn't care -- it was fun!

I bought this little shirt a few months ago because of the cute little googly eyes. Turned out to be perfect for a day at the zoo. (She's worn it to school a few times, too, and the googly eyes have made it through each wash. Not bad for a $4 shirt!)

My niece is such a sweet big cousin.

(And look at my child with that stick in her hand.  I looked back at an old blog post and discovered that she's been into "sticks" for well over a year.  She's so funny.)

We had a great time!  Of course M didn't want my niece to leave and asked if she could stay with us. So we'll have to plan them a sleepover this summer along with my other niece, A.  My child would be in HEAVEN.

Hope everyone's having a great week!

{Special shoutout to my aunt who is celebrating her birthday today! Love you!}
