Wrapping Up 2013

Hey, y'all!  It's less than an hour 'til the new year, and I got the sudden urge to do a dump post on my blog.  I want to start the new year off fresh with as little looming as possible, so I need to get this post up.

It's just kinda how we wrapped up the year:

First up, my baby sister graduated from college (pictured here with both my little sisters)!  I am so very proud of her (I'm also proud that she's a business graduate)!  We drove over to Atlanta to help celebrate at her dinner party.'

But that's not all.

Her boyfriend PROPOSED!

It was one of the sweetest proposals I've ever seen!  First he showed  a video that kinda went through their years of dating...and it didn't take her long to realize what was happening...

Yassss!

Aren't they beautiful? Despite the fact that they've been dating for years, he said he'd  been nervous about the proposal ALL WEEK.  Awww!  Young love!

More pics from that night:

With my stepmom, her Grandma Bird (and I promise I did my kid's hair that day).

With her Big Daddy (my dad).

With the grad, and her buddy, T.

I am so proud of both my little sisters!  I love them more than they'll ever know!

In other news, M's class had their little Christmas caroling program.  Always cute.

Looking for us as she walks in.

We got some video that day, of course, but no time to post that tonight.  It's been fun watching M and her little friends grow up.  They'll be in "big school" next year!

On another note, we recently got a Von Maur in our area.  We were looking for M some shoes a few weeks ago and decided to finally take a look in the store.

Three words: I'm. In. Love.

Their clothes are classic and high-quality -- at least in the children's section.  I didn't even check out the women's clothes because, well, I don't really shop for myself. Only when the need arises, which is not often.

So anyway, yes, the kids section = ADORABLE. The only problem is the PRICES aren't adorable.  Most things were selling for retail and...well...I don't pay retail for anything.  I need sale signs and additional markdowns. And coupons.  And right now, Von Maur ain't tryna hear that.

But the Christmas decorations in the store were beautiful!

And because we don't skimp on M's shoes, we actually ended up getting a pair.  An adorable pair of Mary Janes, of course.

M loved the store, too, because they had toys and a tree house.  We can't wait for them to start having sales!

Anyhoo...

The end of the year also brings M's annual doctors appointment, and bi-annual dentist appointment.  This year all was well -- no fears whatsoever. Still no cavities, and a clean bill of health.

It was PJ Day at school.

On another note, my family doesn't really exchange Christmas gifts (thank goodness), but we did all pool together to buy my grandma an iPad this year. Most of us were able to go to her house and watch her open it (which was a joy).  She loved it, and is excited about playing solitaire and other games from her bed now.

It was also great to see my aunts and cousins because we don't see each other enough.

These two hung out again.

M also got to see her Uncle C, my brother.  We haven't seen him in forever, so it was a treat.

Christmas Day brought more happiness.  We're very modest with the whole presents thing (DK and I don't buy for one another, and we only give M a few small things), but were happy to spend it together.

My mom came over and stayed the night before so she could wake up Christmas morning with M. This is the third year she's spent Christmas morning with us, and I'm so grateful she's building those memories with M.

They made cupcakes for Santa this year.

I got M a gingerbread foam craft to do, and she was like, "Mommy, this is "CARDBOARD." I want a REAL gingerbread house."  It was hilarious!  I purposely didn't get a real one because she has a record of EATING the candies instead of building with them. The adult is usually the one building the thing while she enjoys the goodies.  Not this year, sistah!

We left Santa his cupcake and milk.

This was us Christmas morning after she opened her gifts. She probably got a tiny fraction of what most kids got Christmas morning (she always has), and we plan to keep it small and simple every year.

My sister-in-law came over and had lunch with us (a mixture of home cooking and home cooking from a restaurant - don't judge). Then we took M to see Frozen (cute movie).

My mom usually goes home early Christmas Day, but decided to stick around to go to the movie with us that evening.  So glad she did!

It was a fantastic Christmas Day!

And then we spent some of the last few days of the year on the Emerald Coast...waking up to mornings like this:

...and watching sunsets like this.

We traveled with DK's basketball team again this year for their tournament. M was THRILLED.  Although it was cold on the coast, she still enjoyed the hot tub in our condo.

It rained one day we were there.  It happened to be the day the team didn't have a game.  So we laid around all day, watched movies, and read.  AWWWWWWEEESOME.

We hung out in the mall area the last day where M met friends and played for two hours.

^^ Can you find the little girl and her mommy? ^^

The basketball team saw a movie, so we watched Frozen again.  She loved it just as much the second time around.

We had a great time (and the boys placed 3rd in the tournament)!

Whew!  It's almost countdown time, so I'm gonna end this post. I apologize if it's all over the place, but I'm glad to finally have it all posted (had I waited, it would have been three or four different posts).

Anyhoo, we wish you a Happy New Year!  See you in 2014!

Excuse any typos or crazy talk. This was a super quick post that I'm happy to finally have posted!

Blog Issues - READ IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE TO VIEW THIS BLOG.

Hey, y'all!  Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

Here I was getting ready to update my little blog when I opened an email from Google saying my domain name (TheKimbleKrew.com) will not automatically renew...that I'd have to go in and change my settings for it to renew.

No problem -- I'll just go renew it now... SO I THOUGHT.

I can't find where to do it.  My email doesn't show as the Admin to this domain name (which doesn't make sense), and as of now, I don't know how to contact someone at Google to see what the issue is. A bit fishy, but I hope it's an easy fix that I'm just not recalling at the moment.

This blog has WAY too much stuff on it to lose it...I'm trying not to panic. I've backed it up and everything...but I'm still a bit uneasy about it.  And disgusted, because this is the first time I've had this issue (and I don't know how to fix it)!

So anyhoo,  in case this space doesn't exist after January 4 (my renewal date), you SHOULD still be able to access my blog at its original address:

thekimblekrew.blogspot.com

...and everything should be the same.

I HOPE.

In the meantime, I wish everyone a Happy New Year. I hope to post something before then, but not sure that'll happen.  I've got sooo much catching up to do here...which I hope to do before I go back to work on the 6th.  Fingers crossed!

And just so this post isn't only about my technical issues, here's a recent pic of my big girl.

Happy New Year, good people!  Much love!

M is 5!

Happy Birthday to my favorite girl in the world!

My sweet M turned five today, and we spent a day doing her favorite things.  I took a few phone pics and made a short video to document the day. I'm gathering my thoughts on her birthday letter, so this video will have to suffice for now.

Happy Birthday, my sweet M. I love you so much!

Thanksgiving & Preparing for Christmas

Hey, good people.  I'm doing some unplanned blogging today due to my nerves and the need to do SOMETHING to take my mind off this TIED Iron Bowl game.  For those of you are aren't familiar with the Iron Bowl, it's only the biggest college football rivalry.  Alabama and Auburn play their hearts out the Saturday after Thanksgiving every year as the whole state (and I do mean, WHOLE STATE) watches. If you're from Alabama, you are either an Alabama or Auburn fan.  It's a requirement to live here. It doesn't even matter if you're a graduate of either school.

I happen to have two degrees from Auburn...BUT I roll with the Tide. It's a long story of how I met a guy (who is now my husband) who played for the Tide, was a graduate assistant coach for the Tide, and comes from a family of "Tide or Dies."  All of this was before I became a graduate student at Auburn.

Now don't get me wrong -- I love Auburn, too.  (Yes, I do.  Auburn was good to me.)  And I actually like when Auburn does well in football.  But when they play EACH OTHER, it's no contest. It is what it is.

*Just witnessed another missed field goal. I gotta keep blogging before I develop an ulcer. I cannot deal.*

So how was everyone's Thanksgiving?  Mine was FAB! Got with my peeps for some good eating!

We ate, played games, etc. - what we always do.  Love my folks!  I didn't take my camera, unfortunately, so I didn't get any good pics.

My mom took this one for me of M and her cousin MJ (his daddy and I are first cousins). They're the same age and are very much alike!

Speaking of first cousins, I did manage to get a shot with these two.  These are my HILARIOUS cousins who can make me laugh like NO OTHER.  They make fun of me so badly (always have) and it is SO funny.

Here's another shot of the fam (this time with my husband in it, though I don't think he was ready - ha!).  My kid is in the very back with my silly cousin throwing up something - haha!

I  got out my Christmas decorations the next day.  M stayed the night with my mom to spend some time with my niece, so I was able to work uninterrupted - ha! I got the yard decorations up as well as the tree.  I waited for M to decorate the tree, though, which is what we did today:

This year she actually helped the whole time. I let her put most of the ornaments on (which makes the tree hilariously bottom-heavy).

She was proud of her work.

Here's a side-shot of the living room after I put up most of the decorations. I've accumulated stuff over the years through after-Christmas clearance sales and thrift store finds of my mom's (including yard stuff).  I'm on the hunt for a tree skirt because I STILL don't have one (if you see one for the low-low somewhere, please tell me)!

Okay...so there are eight minutes left in this game, and Bama's up by a touchdown. Waaaaaayyyy too close for comfort, and I'm going to have to literally walk away from this TV to keep my nerves from getting the best of me.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!  Especially Bama fans! :)

Love,
G

Update: Shocked. SUPER shocked. :-( Congrats, Auburn. That was a beautiful, unforgettable win.
