Spring Break 2013: CRUISE WRAP-UP

Today's my last post on our Spring Break cruise...

Overall, the trip was wonderful. Sometimes it's nice to get away from reality and just enjoy the beauty around you.  We were completely disconnected on the trip -- no phones or Internet -- and guess what:  WE DIDN'T DIE. My biggest fear was finding an overwhelming number of text messages and emails to respond to when were back into service, but it wasn't bad at all.

How was the weather?  With the exception of the last day (which was pretty warm), it was in the mid-70s during the day. Our driver on the island said that it was unseasonably cool for them.  While mid-70s is a bit too cool for water fun (for me), it was still beautiful weather for which I was so grateful.

^^ Clearly it was windy at some point, too - ha! ^^

The ship itself was beautiful and not too large.

^^ Dancing with PaPa. ^^

^^ Chillin' with TeeTee. ^^

I gave M my camera as a distraction (desperate measures, people, during a pre-meltdown), and she took this sweet pic of the in-laws. They would have NEVER posed like this for me...but give their grandbaby the camera, and they're all silly willy! :-)

^^ W/her Honey and PaPa.  ^^

M's Daddy may be her favorite parent, but her PaPa is probably her favorite PERSON.  She wanted to be near him the whole trip, and even told us he was her best friend.  Is that not the sweetest thing??

Other highlights from the trip:
  • I was glad to learn that the ship had a small jogging track (because I HATE treadmills, ellipticals, etc), yet I did not run.  Not one time.  Oops.
  • They were having a gold and silver jewelry sale on the ship, and I got matching bracelets for M and me. They're so pretty and I can't wait to wear them.
  • I also bought matching bracelets for my mom and me -- from the market we visited on the island.  It's gold and rose-gold in color, and I'm wearing it today. :-)
  • We ATE a lot, of course. My favorite dishes were a stuffed mushroom appetizer at dinner one night, and the tuna salad on the room service menu (that unfortunately they didn't serve anywhere else on the ship).  Some of the best tuna salad I'd ever had was from a little deli in NYC, but this one actually beat it hands down.  It was served on an English muffin and had just the right seasoning.  Incredible.
  • Speaking of incredible, that's exactly how I would describe the SERVICE on the ship. You just don't get great service much these days, so it was a great getting it constantly for three days.

We had a great time, and I can already tell you what our next cruise will be. The Disney ship happened to be parked next to us at both ports, and our little one noticed. And she went on to tell me that that's what our next cruise will be. Little did she know that it's actually something her daddy started looking into months ago.  So she's probably right - it MAY VERY WELL BE be our next cruise.

Hopefully between now and then she gets a J-O-B because I'm sure cruising with Mickey is gonna cost us a few more nickels.

Anyhoo, enjoy the rest of your week, peeps, and have a great weekend!
