Y'all. I'm gonna get it together one day. I know I said that I'd be back to blogging more now that our family is growing by one. But "what had happened was..."

WE HAD A BABY. And I apparently forgot what that life was all about. These tiny humans need lots of snuggles, playtime, feeding, diaper changes, and all that jazz. Good times, for sure, but times that require you to prioritize every minute of your day. And this ol' blog here just gets pushed to the bottom of the list, along with many other things. I also promised myself I wouldn't do anything with this blog until I finish writing thank you cards (still not done -- shame, shame -- I know). But when I realized that 2017 was days away and I had not even recorded my own child's birth on what is my main family memory collection (this blog), I felt pretty inadequate.

So, without further ado...

Y'all, we are so in love. I'm sure you can imagine.

Yes, she's six months old now, but I still want to post the birth story (including how I ended up back in the hospital after her birth) and how life has been since she's gotten here. To sum it all up, we are SO VERY THANKFUL. More later.

I wish everyone a Happy New Year! Be back soon!

We're back as a family of (almost) four!

Hey, good people!

It has been nearly a year since I last blogged. It has been so hard to keep my head above water the last year, but today I'm jumping back into the blog life. I started blogging for the first time eight years ago when we were weeks away from having our first child. Today I'm starting again because we are weeks away from having our second child. And to me, that's JUST AS CRAZY.

You see, we were that couple that had one child and were fine with it (despite everyone -- especially our parents -- asking when we'd have a second). We'd gotten comfortable in our lifestyle and really didn't see a need for another baby at the moment. Plus, babies, childcare, preschool -- all of that stuff is expensive. We finally got to a point (kindergarten!) where we weren't paying almost $900/month for preschool tuition, so we were GOOD - ha!

But then we started getting older. I started getting older. M was older. I started wanting a sibling for her. And I realized that if we wanted to add to our family, it was time.

And here we are. I'm nine months pregnant with M's little sister!

So let the blogging begin again! Time to start back adding to my little online scrapbook/journal. In fact, I have some catching up to do. Over the last year, we've:

Gone to Disney.

Gone on a family beach trip (24 of us)!

Had another exciting football season!

 I've traveled for work.

New York City (four-day school field trip).

Chicago (six-day student conference).

Kingsport, TN (three-day PD conference).

And Vegas for a five-day PD conference.

Presenting a session at seven months pregnant isn't the easiest thing to do, but it went well. Afterwards, folks came up asking where I get all my energy, so I guess it wasn't too obvious that I was close to passing out up there.

And of course there's the everyday stuff I used to blog about.

Like M and her hobbies (math, Legos, gymnastics, etc.)

Family time.

And fun stuff around town.

I plan to go back and blog about these things. If you followed my blog before, you know all of this would have been written about back when it happened. But the way my life is setup these days...

These days I'm not only doing my everyday jobs (teacher, wife, and mommy), but I'm also teaching a class online and I started a business last summer. Can you understand why blogging hasn't exactly been a priority?

But that's about to change. Life is slowing down a little, and we're preparing for our new addition. And I hope that means I have more time for blogging. And what better way to pick up than to start with the present: a beautiful baby shower we had a couple of weeks ago.

I especially wanted to document this because with M, we had three baby showers, none of which I have pictures of on the blog. I promised I wouldn't let that happen with this baby.

Anyone who knows us knows how incredibly fortunate we are when it comes to family. Our parents and siblings are amazing. They pulled off this beautiful baby shower that I knew very little about (besides the date and location). My husband and daughter even kept secrets.

Imagine walking into this.

I was just in awe of the decor. And it was one of the few times where all sides of our family were in the same place at the same time. It was an amazing feeling.

And my best friends!

They helped me with the gift-opening (always overwhelming, so I was grateful for that.)

This is the look you have when one of your best friends gives you a big box full of stuff that could quite literally get you through your baby's first year. I mean there were multiple packages of diapers, wipes, cereal, dishes, lotion, baby soaps, bibs, etc.

It was the perfect day. I am so grateful for all the love and time shared with us.

With my aunt and mother.

With my sister-in-law and sister. I'm missing my other sister, who is also weeks away from having baby #2. She was too close to delivery to travel! And my brother, who couldn't be there that day, sent tons (way too many) gifts in his place!

With my niece (who is hanging on for dear life), nephew, and M. My dad and stepmom's three grandchildren (soon to be FIVE).

My sweet Babycakes. She's loving this big sister thing, and is already in love with her baby sister.

Getting practice with her newest little cousin (who was born since my last blog post)!

I wish I'd gotten pictures with everyone. :( The shower flew by!

So as you can see, a lot of things have happened since the last time I updated this spot. But I'm back now. Ready to share our new lives as parents to (almost) TWO. Here we are one Sunday afternoon at the park.

This wasn't exactly a planned photo (hence the t-shirts DK and I are both wearing), but I had my camera, I'd just hit eight months pregnant, and I wanted to get something with the three of us. And M is being her normal silly self. :)

But this is where we are now. In 3-4 weeks, our lives will be very different. I look forward to sharing some of that here. Feel free to pop in anytime.

Thanks for stopping by!
